Feasibility Studies
You may have already asked yourself “Can I make an addition to my home?”, “What about adding a second story?”, or “Can I convert my garage into a game room?”, “Can I place an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) in my backyard?”. An immediate answer to these questions could be “maybe”. Unfortunately, “Maybe” is not an answer that brings clarity or certainty to such important questions. One must have the confidence to deliver a more concrete answer, even if the answer is no. How do we arrive at a true answer?
We must conduct a residential planning feasibility study/analysis to assess the viability and practicality of developing a residential project. This study involves an in-depth examination of various factors. Factors that will influence development are, but not limited to: Zoning regulations, height restrictions, maximum allowed building coverage for each parcel, architectural features for the proposed structures, minimum required landscape/open space areas, required parking, etc.
The study’s primary goal is to determine whether the project aligns with all local governmental regulations. By conducting a thorough residential planning feasibility study, property owner can make informed decisions while mitigating potential obstacles, ultimately increasing the likelihood of a successful project.
